Today in partnership with the Police Department, the Borough is launching a new addition to DO•it, our suite of services that make getting things done in the borough a friendlier experience. POLICE•it allows residents to report non-emergency tips to the police department in an effort to solve and reduce crime in South River. This service is being launched together with the relaunched Police Tip Line.

We're working hard to bring more of our services online and to streamline pre-existing services to provide more clarity and convenience for our residents. Our suite of services already includes MAP•it, REPORT•it, our POTHOLE•reporter, CALL•it, and is now joined by our fifth service, POLICE•it.

Later this year, it will be joined by a sixth, FILE•it, a service we're very excited about, that will make registering and applying for permits and programs much easier and friendlier. We will begin with recreation registrations and will move other forms online as soon as is feasible.

We're really excited about these programs and as always, welcome your feedback!

Today the Borough is pleased to officially unveil its Beautification Program. The program is comprised of a series of efforts, all with the core commitment of beautifying the Borough. We will be working in a variety of ways to place priority on curb appeal and incentivize investment in properties around South River. These efforts take some time to be fully realized, but with your help, we'll get there together.

We're committed to a friendlier South River and have been making changes in a variety of ways to deliver on that promise. Today, we want to share with you two initiatives to better highlight this work. First, to keep residents informed of the small efforts we've been implementing that benefit residents and make South River a stronger community, we've launched a page to review them. We're calling this "Small efforts with Big Effect." Second, we've launched a Projects Blog to better highlight the details of many of the projects we're currently working on.

Both of these new features will reside on the sidebar to the right and will continue to be updated on a regular basis as we continue to make progress on the many changes in South River. We welcome you to check them out!

The Borough is committed to ensuring our urban forest is properly managed and cared for. We are working to improve our shade tree coverage in the borough due to the many benefits such coverage provides. In coordination with the Environmental/Shade Tree Commission, we have launched a "Plant One On Us" program allowing residents to apply for shade tree plantings in the verge (the space between the sidewalk and curb) to replenish our shade covering around the borough. We're very excited to announce a new suite of services that we're rolling out today as a beta. DO-it allows residents and businesses to report and track a variety of issues they may experience, instantly get access to data via an interactive map, and report potholes. During our beta, we're working out the kinks to these services and beginning to build them out as we begin to aggregate this data. Over time, we will be adding new services to DO-it to streamline additional services within the borough.

On June 12th, members of the Governing Body introduced a cohesive vision for the Downtown Streetscape focused on creating a sense of place and distinct personality for the Borough business district. It also celebrates business expression by specifically getting out of the way of our downtown businesses and being sure not to impose requirements upon them while beginning to develop voluntary programs to assist them. We welcome you to read the plan.
