Other Waste Information

There's a variety of other items that residents should know about in order to assist our Borough and improve overall services for everyone. In addition, there are a variety of basic resources that one should know about to ensure that disposal of waste does not negatively effect your and the Borough's sewers and other basic infrastructure.

Flushing of Certain Products

The sewer system is designed to dispose of very specific items. Using your toilet for disposal of many modern products will often result in blockages. The drains that connect your home to the sewer main are only big enough to carry water, toilet paper, and human waste. These drains are often no wider than 4 inches in diameter., Please view items that should never be flushed.

Bulk Pickups

To ensure fairness and prevent abuses, each household is entitled to 4 bulk pickups per calendar year. Learn how to request a bulk pickup.

Hydrant Flushing

To ensure a well functioning water infrastructure, the Borough conducts hydrant flushings at various times during the year. Learn more about this schedule.

Safe Syringe Disposal

Syringes pose major public safety risks if disposed of improperly. Learn more about the proper way of disposing of used needles and syringes.

Electronics Disposal

Since the 2011 passage of the Electronics Waste Management Act, residents can no longer dispose of covered electronics devices with regular waste. Placing such items outside for curbside pickup is forbidden by Borough Code and is subject to summons. Learn more about the proper way of disposing of electronics.

Paint Disposal

Paint cannot be disposed of at the curbside. The County accepts latex and oil based paints, stains, varnishes, lacquers, thinners, spray paint, and driveway sealer. Items must be labeled. County residents only. Learn more about where to take your paint.
