POLICE•it, Our Tip Hotline & Online Reporting System

The South River Police Department is pleased to announce two new options for residents to submit reports by telephone and online. Ultimately, the goal is to provide residents with options to report tips that can help our Police Department solve crimes and keep residents safer.

The first method is to call our newly established tip hotline, which allows concerned residents to report crime or suspicious activity information. Reports can be submitted by dialing 732-613-3099.

The tip line allows citizens to leave a voicemail which is then reviewed by a Detective. If you wish to remain anonymous, you do NOT have to provide your contact information. However, if you wish to receive a phone or email response from an officer or would like to discuss the information further with an officer, please provide a phone number or an email address where you can be reached.

The second, integrates into DO•it the borough's suite of online services. POLICE•it allows residents to submit reports online for concerns including parking issues, traffic concerns, criminal activity and drug activity.

Neither of these options are emergency lines and should NOT be used to report crimes in progress or emergency situations. These services are not a replacement for 9-1-1. Residents should also keep in mind that reports submitted online or via the tip line are reviewed during the normal business hours of 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

If you witness or are experiencing an emergency situation, please call 9-1-1 immediately. An emergency is any serious medical problem (chest pain, seizure, bleeding), any type of fire (business, car, building), or any life-threatening situation (fights, person with weapons, etc.) or any crime in progress (when the suspect is still on scene or has just fled).

These services also do not replace non-emergency calls that would occur in the regular course of business. The South River Police Department still operates its main contact number at (732) 238-1000. A non-emergency incident is property damage, break-in to a vehicle (when suspect is gone), theft of property (when suspect is gone), vandalism (when suspect is gone), panhandlers, intoxicated persons who are not disorderly, or cars blocking the street or alleys.

This service is one of many that leverages GovPilot. Learn more about all of these services.

This service is brought to you in coordination between the South River Police Department, the Public Safety Committee, Finance Committee, and Communications Committee.
